Glaister Welsh

Chief Investment Officer

Glaister founded Calabash Asset Management LLC, a Registered Investment Advisor, regulated in Maryland. Glaister saw AUMs in separately managed accounts grow to $3.8 million during this period. His professional background comprises notable managerial positions across various firms, including General Electric, Avery Dennison, Bershire Hathaway (GEICO) and Kaiser Permanente.

He boasts an impressive Six Sigma Master Black Belt and the Series 65. Additionally, Glaister’s name has been associated with a few publications, including a book on investing strategy and journal papers on diverse topics ranging from biochemical hazardous remediation to investing strategies.

Furthermore, he has successfully worked on several entrepreneurial ventures, including Nature Isle Tropical Gourmet LLC, a condiments provider that gained presence in 250 specialty grocery stores across the US and Canada at the peak of its operations. Glaister holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Howard University, obtained in 1995 with magna cum laude honors.

Andrew Almeida

CFA, CFP

Andrew is an experienced finance and investments professional. His specialised skillset encompasses portfolio and investment management, fund raising for start-ups, corporate finance consultancy, and capital markets consultation. Before joining Calabash, Andrew held the role of Associate Portfolio Manager at City National Rochdale, managing $1.25 Billion in high-net-worth assets.

He also provided consultancy services for Private Wealth Advisors at AAM regarding the structuring of fixed income portfolios. Further to this, he worked for four years at JPMorgan in both a personal banking and Private Equity Fund Service Portfolio Administrator capacity, dealing with British Petroleum’s significant investments in private equity, totaling over one billion dollars.

Paul Whiteley

Chief Compliance Officer

Paul Whiteley serves as the Chief Compliance and Risk Officer for Calabash Capital Partners. Previously, he founded and served as CEO of Green Lab Capital LLC, a development consulting firm based in Washington D.C. With more than two decades of experience in global capital markets, Paul has provided key services for international development financial institutions in the U.S., Europe, and Jamaica.

His background includes a Principal position in Corporate Finance at the European Stability Mechanism in Luxembourg, where he spearheaded the establishment of the corporate finance stream in the CFO group, and offered internal consulting to both the ESM and the European Financial Stability Fund. Furthermore, he was substantially involved in business transformation projects such as the merger of the European Stability Mechanism and the European Financial Stability Fund.

Prior to his move to Luxembourg, Paul was employed by the World Bank’s Treasury and Structured Finance divisions in Washington D.C., managing debt issuances of the World Bank while also authoring a paper on its lending products with the President of the Bank’s signature.

Vittorio Manente

Analyst

Vittorio’s primary focus lies in conducting strategic studies aimed at uncovering market opportunities across diverse sectors and geographical regions. His expertise encompasses a wide range of competencies, including the creation of medium and long-term energy projections, conducting financial analyses, providing policy guidelines, and developing techno-economic models.

Leveraging his strategic vision, technical prowess, and lean thinking approach, Vittorio consistently delivers precise analyses within tight deadlines. Having honed his skills in the automotive sector, Vittorio’s professional journey began in the light and heavy-duty automotive realms, assuming various roles including that of chief project manager. His work made its way to the Aramco board of directors, and his insights provided support for the company’s business and investment decisions.

Crystal Welsh

Investor Relations

Crystal serves as the Director of Investor Relations where she is tasked with cultivating institutional and existing investor relationships. Previous to her current role, she managed a health care DME business for several years, in addition to helming her own DME startup.

She also held positions at Columbia Fertility as an RN, and at Grubbs Pharmacy NW, where she served as the compliance and accreditation leader. Crystal holds a B.S. in Chemistry and a BSN in Nursing from Howard University.

The Calabash Advisory Board consists of several experts in their respective fields. The board members have backgrounds in a wide array of industries including government contracting, academia and finance. The advisory board provides non-binding strategic advice to Calabash Asset Management LLC.

Dr. Delroy Hunter

Fund Advisor

Dr. Hunter is the Serge Bonanni Professor of International Finance at the University of South Florida and a former Fulbright Research Scholar. He has a BS (Management) from The University of the West Indies (UWI, Jamaica) and a PhD (Finance) from the University of Warwick (U.K.), where he was a Commonwealth Scholar. He has published peer-reviewed papers in Investments, International Finance, Banking, and Asset Pricing in some of the most prestigious journals in business, including the Journal of Financial Economics, The Accounting Review, Journal of Business, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of International Money & Finance, and Financial Management.

His papers have won several awards, including the Goldman Sachs Quant Award for Research in Investments at the Western Finance Association conference, and are listed among the working papers of central banks and a money management firm. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Financial Stability and Quarterly Journal of Finance & Accounting. Dr. Hunter has received training in management consulting, entrepreneurship, small business management & development, and hotel management. He has worked in banking and as a manager in the hotel industry. He has offered professional services to various private sector and government entities.
